The Bainbridge Island Watershed Council participated in the annual Town and Country Earth Day Celebration on May 16, 2011.  The focus of this outreach event was to educate the general public about Bainbridge Island's groundwater and aquifers. Volunteers  Jeanne Huber, Gerlind Jenkner, Rose Defawe, Janet Knox, and Deb Rudnick staffed the event.  By using the "Edible Aquifer" drink developed by the Idaho DEQ, we explained what an aquifer is and how it works to many children and a few adults.   A few pointers were also given to the public about how to keep our groundwater clean and aquifers sustainable.   Everyone enjoyed the sweet concoction and left the outreach booth both satisfied and aquifer-educated.
